timing on iat punto?

i have been at this job now for 10 hours gone to every point now on the cogs still nothing just back firing doing my head in people say its 10 min job what a laugh can anyone let me no thanks

an engine is always set up on no 1 cylinder on the compression stroke,if its popping and banging u have got it wrong and more then lileley already bent a valve or two but as nigel says repost it in the car section for car lovers to answer.we do bikes here.

i changed head gasket on my r reg punto 12 hundred cc 1 have got the timing marks right but it is popping and back firing i would like to no if there are any more lines to time up such as on alternator and water pump if so could anyone let me no thanks its as if its trying to start on number 2 or 3 plug its doing my head in and i can see the car getting a hammer through it does number 1 and 4 plug have to be at top or is it 2 and 3 also the cog what alternator belt is on as that got to be lined up please let me no cheers pmac

Are you talking about the cambelt timing on a FIAT Punto? is you are you will need to give a bit more info, like year, engine size & type (petrol or oil burner) with this info post a new question in the CARS section and you might be lucky!!
