gearbox problem?

i have a vw sharon 2006 automatic in the morning when started for 20 minutes drive off 1st and 2nd gear are ok but after 3000rpm goes straight to 4th gear and emmission workshop also appears later on the day everything is fine emmission light sometimes stays on any suggestions|?
