mercedes 108 cdi vito?

the previous owner of my vito diesel van has disconnected (for what ever reason!?), the water /fuel seperator connector (mb. part number a000 153 93 13. i have been informed by my local dealer that that is what it is.i have no idea as to where it should be fitted to the engine , and i have looked it over as much as is possible without taking all the intake manifolds etc off. the van has always run very well and therefore i assume that whatever this part should be doing , it does not effect the running of the vehicle. can anyone help please.

there is a water seperator option, that is a sensor that is fited to the bottom of the fuel filter. they sometimes draw air, and cause problems. the filter without these are cheaper, and more reliable, so they are often thrown away. modern diesel doesnt have water through it, negating the need for this sensor. tie it up, and ignore it.

Solved !...the previous owner had fitted a non-water bleed fuel filter which has the socket for which the connector is deigned for.Thats why I could not find anything to fit it into !! Simple really I suppose.Anyway its a shame that even the Mercedes workshop manuals don't cover this in detail.I assume that is so obvious that they deemed it unnecessary to show it in detail ?!
