How can I fix my printer?

I have a Hewlett Packard DeskJet 841C. I went under my Control Panel to add it. It is added. But I can't get my printer connected, the green light isn't even on. I know that it works because I have previously used it. Can someone please give me some answers? THANX!!!

my printer wont take the paper properly it doesnt go far enough to start printing and it pulls more on one side. it doesnt say paper jam but just load paper my printer is lexmark x4550

Check cables (usb or parallel).
try replacing cables.
