Its time for a class action suit, especially since Phillips could care less, won't even discuss the problem, and there are no accurate reports available as to the nature of this problem.

you need to turn the tv on and off 1473 times and it will start working properly. dont ask me how it just works. good luck.

bob, December 2008
my tv shuts off for about ten seconds and then turns back on. it does this frequently. This sounds like a factory defect.

Philips Plasma 42" Flat Screen42FD9954 /17S. When turned on, green light appears, then switches to red blinking light. Just started doing this. No screen display whatsoever and warranty expired 10 mo. ago. Have tried everything. $5000 for a piece of garbage. Philips says "sorry" and told me this has never been reported before.

Philips Does It Again., November 2005
I have the same problem. The tv would flash before starting up. Then it just plain died. Phillips is working on the problem now.

same thing it will cost US$1500 to fix. Maybe we could sue Philips for a lemon they sold us?

victor, December 2004
I have the same problem. It happened when it was covered under warranty. Now I have the same thing. It will probably cost me a fortune to have it fixed. I will have an answer next week.
I think it is a factory defect. If they install the same component it will happen again.
