Anything I can do to fix my washing machine?

My Hoover Vision HD 1400 8 kg Washing Machine will not always do the programme I want. I turn the dial for example to spin only but the machine starts a wash cycle. Any advice please?

My GE washer model WCVH6260 has been destroyed my cloths since brand new. It seems cloths get caught between front rubber, now a wire that hold this rubber came off. how to fix this?
