any gear including reverse? If it still goes back then it's a broken band (on in 1st and 2nd) To prove hold the lever halfway between D and 3 or 2 if thats next to D. The display should flash and put you in third gear. If no reverse as well then its possibly a spline on the driveshaft or cable popped off the selector.
