Try pressing the sky button several times after changing batteries, appears to have worked for me but not sure why.

If the remote is dead, you cannot fix it, they are made using descrete components. replace it. It would cost more to repair than it is worth, You may be able to get a suitable cheap universal remote from certain auction sites
