flashing glow plug on 06 Passat?

got 06 vw passat diesel 140bhp on overtaking excelerating quite hard glow plug started to flash car then went into shut down mode. pulled over restarted engine been ok since but not driven above 2000 revs, brake lights are working.
Any suggestions please
