do a compresson test i found out that No. 1 bore whose worn out < i made my comp tester out of old glow plug, hose ,500psi tank gauge>ended up fitting bigger 1500 diesel total cost with second hand engine £285 (if head gasket is gone look in bottom of air box for oil/diesel )this happens when one piston acts like a pump and pushes oil up the inlet

Hi Patrick,

I may be experiencing the same problem (106 - 1.4D)! Is the problem intermittant? Occasionally I start off and there seems to be a distinct lack of power and virtually no braking is required to come to a stop and then after a while its gone - sound famaliar? I think it may be the front brakes binding - I'm going to change the pads soon and overhaul the brakes and see if that helps. Unfortunately however I have recently noticed on motorway driving an amount of blue exhaust smoke (possibly piston rings) which could be a loss of pressure and the subsequent lack of power - is yours a smoker? If you have sourced your problem could you let me know what it was please.

Cheers
