I have the same problem over here. My drive is JFV30 1GB from Transcend.My drive is recognised by system , since it is shown in device manager . My OS fails to read my drive contents.

You just go to the device manager and on USB controllers (click) look out for 'USB Mass Storage Device ' right-click to see its properties.
