I have a Techwood TWDFV1 freeview box which I think is the same model as the Matsui DTR2? Red power light comes on in standby mode by I can no longer switch the unit on? May be due to unit overheating? The reset button has no effect. Probably going to abandon unit but is there any way I can reactivate or repair it?

If it's under a year old take it back. If not buy a new one as they are so cheap now. Matsui is DSG (Dixons Stores Group) but I'm not sure why you think that is relelvant. Lots of people badge the same boxes.
