how do I get to the heating element on Maytag Model LDE410 dryer?

do I have to open the front or the back or take off the top?

Unplug. Two philips screws at the bottom of the front panel. Pull bottom of front out then unhook at the top. Remove two wires to door interlock and set front aside. Two small sheetmetal screws hold the front baffle over the coil. Check continuity across terminals to determine if element is open (broken).

I have replaced the heater element assembly with a new replacement (Part about $55). Am about to string a new element within the existing housing ($23 for heater wire)

Often wire at top just burns off and can be cleaned and screwed back on.
