hi could any one tell me what would be wrong with my 1996 primera some times when i go to start it when you turn the key it justs makes like a whine and you might have to try it a few times before it will start also my battery charge ligh stays on the altnater is still putting a charge in the battery but i would like to fix it any help greatly recived and the car is 16LX petrol thanks

first check the battery connections , are clean and tight, then check the starter motor connections are clean and tight. if all is ok there , i would suggest a visit to a car shop / garage to get the battery drop tested, and the alternator check for charging [ most places will do this free of charge] . is the fan belt in good condition and tight ? - this may not be the fault - but it wont help , finally - if battery and alternator are ok - visit an auto electrician - to check the rest of the electrics - [starter motor ] ?
