was playing my ps3 and it just turned itself off?? it can sit on standby as normal with the red light on......... but when i go to turn it on now, after about 2 seconds it knocks off?

Check if it's geting to hot. It surely have some overheat protection that shut it off when it gets to hot.

Normaly, on a real computer, you need to remove dust from the heat sink and fan periodicaly. I suspect that your game console have that exact same problem.
