how long should the glow plug light stay on for?

diesel vectra 55reg. changed glow plugs,what a nightmare,still bad on starting when cold.once started aok .how long should the glow plug light stay on for.

I had one and the leak off pipes were causing it had little cracks in then.got some good quality pipe and changed them and it was fine.I used a peugeot pipe kit off a 206 1,9 deisel.

It will depend on engine temperature but when it is cold the light may be on for 3 or 4 seconds but the glow plugs will still be on for a bit longer so wait a bit more before trying to start,has it been on a code reader?it may be a faulty glow plug relay
