This could be for many reasons. Firstly try a "RECOVER VOLUME" if the option is available, if not then re-install the operating system. This can be done if you know what you are doing, if in doubt ask a professional for advice this is usually free, or if still dubious get them to do it for yopu should be around £20 - £30
