How do you adjust a handbrake on a Peugeot 406 HDI?

Rear brakes are binding and getting hot on wifes 406 HDI Estate. Is there any simple way of adjusting the rear brake shoes to prevent them rubbing? If there is where do you find the adjuster?

Thanks

With hand brake off, turn the adjuster till the shoes lock the drum tight and then back it off 6 clicks. Not easy to find it looking though a 8mm hole but it is there at about 2 o'clock if I remember (might be 10 o'clock on other side). To take up and slack in the cable the adjuster is between the rear wheels on a shackle. Slacken the lock nut within the shackle and then turn the larger nut until cable slack is iliminated. then tighten lock nut.

i think these will be discs foot brake inside shoes for the handbrake. they adjust with taking off the wheels and there is a hole in the disc/drum which you put a screwdriver through to adjust the cam up. make sure the cable is not tight when you adjust them and they are free and well oiled on moving parts

drums or discs?if discs make sure the levers on the calipers are hitting their stops,if not suspect h/brake cables or cables over adjusted,if drums then they really need to come off for a look to see if cables or shoe levers are seized.
