when i turn the tv on the picture appears then the screen turns black and the sound stays on...any suggestions?

Its the backlight power supply, I looked at one for a freind, in Uk, same problem, have not been able to get new parts. If you look very closely, in a dim lit room, you will be able to see the picture, just. need a cct board to fix, usually on board with power supply, You might have more luck trying to get one than me.
