DVD player not recognizing any disk?

My DVD player is not recognizing some DVD disks.
The Model is somewhat obscure and the instructions are very poor. No manufacturers name or address is given anywhere.
What is the likely cause?
Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Try a lens cleaner. You can get them most places.
