repairing a power supply?

LCD projector, Panasonic PT-AX100. Has recently shutdown and has random episodes of whether once plugged in it turns to standby mode. IF the standby light does come on, and I push the power up button, I hear the secondary power supply startup, inc fan, but it instantly shuts down within a second or two. I am guesssing this is the power supply PCB (and ballast?)?? and if so wondering if there is a way to fix the supply rather than simply replace it?
