vauxhall corsa 1.2 1996 petrol in oil,loss of power?

engine runs but not enough power to drive.engine oil level has increased by 1/2 litre and smells of petrol.

sorry, forgot to add that petrol in your oil is very dangerous and the more you run the engine the more petrol goes into the oil, this repair needs to be done A.S.A.P , I wouldnt drive this car around to much.

the main reason for petrol in your oil is the piston rings worn, which means the petrol is running down the side of the piston into the sump where your oil is retained, worn piston rings will give you a severe loss of power,replacing piston rings is a major job and cost major money, you would be cheaper getting another engine,petrol in the oil thins it down so it doesnt do its job properly so only makes things worse, hope this helps, good luck.

Valve seals, piston rings etc If fuel is getting in to oil they the main places for it. You need to get it seen to, petrol in oil could be dangerous.
