Thomson DTi 160?

My DTi tells me I have no working hard drive, I have tried to reset the factory settings but that didnt work. I was also advised to reformat the HDD, but that didnt work as there is no hard drive. How do I get it back or should I just bin it?

You will need to take it apart after unplugging it from the mains. When you have got it apart, carefully loosen and remove the hard drive. Clean all the dust from the drive and from out of the box. Reconnect the drive, and put it all back together. This should solve the problem. If not, either the HDD is faulty (not unknown) or the power supply needs the capacitors replacing. There are about 5 that go faulty. You`ll find people on the net to do this if you are not confident of doing it your self. I`ve had one for about 6 years and have had all sorts of problems, from no HDD, not booting from cold, failure to record to stuttery recording and playback. I`ve fixed mine every time myself. Most can be solved by replacing the capacitors with the best quality capacitors available. The capacitors fitted are the cheapest, crappiest capacitors money can buy. Its worth doing as these boxes work well when sorted and are so easy to operate. Good luck.
