The disc fails to read, and the turntable will spin extremely fast.

Alba is not exactly top of the range in electronics, or even middle of the range, in fact, yes you've guessed it, the're right at the bottom, so not worth repairing, just buy a new one, but spend a bit more money this time and get a decent one, simples!
