Can I repair electric cord? Cord is worn and frayed?

The cord is frayed and wires is showing . It is a McCulloch AIR STREAM 11.Taped it but it does not stay together .Naturally going on and off when using. I am a woman. Give me some advice beside buying a new one. THANKS .
