my van is starting badly?

i have a ford transit d/van 2004 i have had nu glow plugs just put in ( lucas..then the other day after about 10 mins on rd it went daed it did this b/4 & after the plgs where fitted i leave my ignition on 4 10 sec turn the engine try's to fire leave for another ten10 seconds then it fires when i turn my ignition i get a crackling noise in the wireing it seems...my glow plug light has been flashing also can u advice..ty

hi i hav a 90 dual engine 54plate luton if i leave it for approx 1hr or over night i have too turn it over about 4 times to start

You didn't say which Transit you have but if its a RWD with a 90 or 120 PSI engine you need to check the fusable link under the bonnet, it is located just next to the red plastic "+" terminal where you would put the jump leads if you had a flat battery. The main power supply for the heater plugs takes its feed from this terminal and if one of your old heater plugs shorted to earth it would blow this fusable link, it looks like a piece of wire but smaller in diameter than the main supply to the heater plugs and bolts on to the aformentioned terminal, unscrew it and check it by giving it a tug or check it out with a multimeter.

your glow plug light is the engine management light also and maybe has nothing to do with glow plugs being your fault,it will be in your interest to get it onto a code reader to help you out
