how do i check if my glow plugs are not working?

my peudeot 405 td has been starting fine until yesterday when it would turnover but not start.I am thinking it is the glow plugs .I guess I have to start somewhere

TAKE THE GLOW PLUG OUT, WHERE THE WIRE GOES ON THE TOP. WRAPP SOME WIRE AROUND IT, PUT THE PLUG IN SOME PLYERS PUT THE WIRE ONTO TO THE + THEN PUT THE PLUG ONTO THE - TERMINAL, THE END OF THE GLOW PLUG SHOULD GLOW WITHIN SECONDS IF IT WORKS

each one should take 8 amps .wire a large ampmeter in series and check the current drawn should be approx. 32
