32" Sanyo TV won't turn on (about 4-5 years old, no prior problems)?

32" Sanyo MTS stereo/SAP/dbx, Model No. DS31580: The TV was plugged into a cable box so that when you turn off the cable the TV turned off at the same time. To turn them on, however, you had to first turn on the cable box, then turn on the TV. The cable remote control was programmed to handle both, but for the past few months it seemed to take longer for the TV to actually turn on via that remote. Manually pressing the button on the TV always worked immediately. Then about a week ago suddenly the TV would not turn on at all, via cable remote, the TV's actual Sanyo remote, manually, etc. I plugged the TV power cord directly into a working outlet as well, but that won't work with any remotes or pushing the TV's "on" button manually. It was such a nice TV, great picture and sound, then suddenly wouldn't turn on. Any ideas? Thanks!

I'm looking up the same sort of problem for a friend. She has a Sanyo. The problems sound the same but does your standy light flash from amber to red?!?

If so i've found the possible solution, but I've got to research how to do this so I don't know if it will be useful:

"Dead set, standby L.E.D lit
Check capacitor C634 (2n2, 2KV) in power supply for o/c or s/c"

From site: http://www.e-repair.co.uk/tips.htm

Hope that helped :)

Try the high voltage section- transistors & capacitors might have been fried, or the transformer may be bad.

I'm having the same problem. My sanyo ds31580 was making a loud high pitch tone and it started shutting off and I would unplug it from the wall and reconnect and it would come back on right away. After a few days of this and the tv went completely out and will not come back on. I'm thinking it could be a power supply or a fuse. I still haven't found out where I can get parts. Have you gotten any responses on yer problem? thanks and sorry for buggin you.
