Tracking is off after recording at SLP speed and playing back (EWV404)?

After recording on EWV404 VCR at SLP speed and playing back, tracking does not stabilise the picture. It keeps jumping up and down.
Recording and playing back is OK on SP speed.
Any solutions or suggestions most welcome. Many thanks.
