My Stannah stairlift chair will not go up?

All lights come on and everything appears okay. When I try to go up, you can hear the normal start up noise, but then it just keeps clicking. It will not go up. Please advise

Sounds like it needs to be investigated inside, starting with looking at what the battery(s) voltage is doing when the lever is operated.

no, it does not appear to be the foot sensor. There is nothing blocking the foot area either. When I hold the lever to go up, it makes the initial noise that it is going to start climbing up, but the chair does not go up. There is a pause and then makes the clicking sound again.

It's not the sensor down by your feet being pushed onto is it? If it thinks your foot or something is in the way it won't start. Though I would of thought that there would be an extra beep or something if this was the case. There's a plate thing that detects if your feet are in the way or obstructing the movement. The foot platform also detects if a foot is pushing against it. If it's happened since the room has been hoovered it might had been knocked, or there may be a foreign object.
