how to attempt to fix wm 5140w start button ?

My Beko wm 5140w start/pause cancel button is not releasing and has stuck in the panel and the light does not come on - feels like it has come off whatever is at the back of the buttom -that enables it to release itself - any ideas on best diy solution attempt

disconnect from mains.remove the fascia from the machine then remove the pcb from the fascia and see what is going on.Make note of all connections or take photo prior to disconnecting
