how can i fix my fiat ullysse, lose of power and black smoke?

loose power when accelerating and a lot of smoke. fiat ullysse x reg, 2 ltr diesel and engine management light comes on.

When did you last renew the air filter? It could be filthy and causing the engine to run too rich. Check it.
