just a question for you clever lot out there,my previous questions regarding the rattling ,squealy ,woop woop noise.....,when my water pump and auxillary belt tensioner were replaced,a new pulley kit wasn't installed even though the timing belt was taken off and not replaced,as im still getting the noise and it gets really annoying,do you think there could still be a pulley or something in the belt ,pulley area that is faulty,another mechanic is looking at the car this week,im just after a bit ofan idea incase he starts throwing a load of jargon at me ,be nice to have a bit of a clue.cheers people,,shaun

another thing to look at is the crank pulley which on some french cars can knock and rumble.

have you tried it without the fan belt on to rule out alternator/pulleys etc? It is sometimes difficult to determine if a pulley is noisy without a load upon it,and is important the timing belt is adjusted correctly or it will whine if overtightened
