I have a vauxhall combo 1.7 it was kicking out black smoke I was told it was the egr valve so I bought a new one and it is still blowing black smoke it has had a full service 3 weeks ago I've now been told it is the intercooler can someone help pls

give the motor a rev and get someone to listen to the intercooler,these are under pressure and any leaks should be quite noticable,pay attention to hoses also,another option is to try a fuel conditioner and have seen dramatic falls in smoke readings as a result,good luck
