peugeot 206 1.6 automatic -gearbox fault?

when driving along normally at about 30-40 mph the gearbox suddenlychanges down and displays gearbox fault, I then switch off, switch back on and all is well, until next time, any help?

Our 1.4auto did that,the wife drives it more than me and said the exhaust was blowing.had a new exhaust fitted and the problem went away,I think the engine management went a bit iffy with the exhaust not breathing properly,worth looking underneath!
