hotpoint aquarius tcm580 drier overheating possibly?

I have a hotpoint aquarius tcm580 drier and i put it on low heat not over filled but it gets scorching hot very quickly and the drum stops spinning then makes a loud humming noise. I have emptied all the lint and water cleaned out the filter drawer taken the back off nothings stuck or blocking anything. The elements get red hot and smell - are they overheating and dying?

If drum stops but the heater stays on this will cause the overheating issue.could be a capacitor or motor issue unless the drum is seizing up during the cycle??
