How can I open the rear door that the lock is stuck?

The rear door on my VW polo won't open. Is there a child lock?
How can I fix it.

If the child lock is on it should open using the exterior handle.

If the central locking actuator or the door lock in that door has failed then I think the only way through to the lock is to cut through the door card.

If the locks start playing up it is best to replace the faulty lock before it stops working completely.
