cutting out?

my Iveco tipper 52 plate keeps cutting out when im tipping and it seems like a flat battery but as soon as I connect the jump leads it starts straight off,
is this a bad earth or maybe a relay gone!!
Any answers would be welcome as this is becoming a bas£$&d.
