hi, I bought a hp laptop with pre-installed windows 8 after around 5 months the laptop is now asking me for a product code but there is no sticker and I don't have the disc is there anyway I can find my product key to re-activate my windows 8

just google for Win Key Finder and there are a few utilities you can use which grab the Windows key for you, i reccomend you scan any software you download via virustotal.com before you install.

Check inside the battery compartment. Sometimes the stickers are in odd places.

Go on microsoft.com
Download the latest Windows Media player. In the process, you'll get a product key. Take note of it.

Install Windows Media player.
When asked, enter the produck key for Windows Media player.

Windows 8 is now totaly registered.

Alternatively, you can do a search for "remove WAT".
It's a small utility that was made just for the case where the Windows Activation Technology goes wonky... It totaly remove that technology and report "Genuine" to all tests.
