We have just purchased a refurbished 1st gen Ipad, putting it on to charge we turn it off so it will charge quicker. But it turns itself on and off all through the charging cycle, this can't be normal. Has anybody got any helpful input please.

Thanks for your attention MM, I think I may have sourced the problem. The usb power adapter that we were useing only had an output of 3v. I checked the one provided and it had an output of 5v so I plugged it in and the ipad did not turn itself back on and went up to 100% from 98% in no time.

Yes tried everything we could think of. It took several hours to charge up to 98% from 43%

have you turned it "off" ?i.e. hold the start button(top right)until the red sign say slide to off ,
