How can I mend my tailgate lock Citroen C4 2006?

Lock stuck in closed position. Probably failure of electrical supply since components work when connected to a small battery. Is there a transformer in the circuit which is not working? Where is it?

My guess is it is controlled by an ECU and accessing that with a computer will determine what course of action is required
