how do i change the float needle or height?

i have a midi moto were there is a tube that points straight to the floor coming out of the carburetor, it leaks petrol. i have been told (thanks to "Adam the bike doctor") that i would need to adjust the float needle or float height, but i dont know what any of those are or how to do it. it would be helpful if i can have clear guidance on how to do it.

ok mo the float is the plastic thing in the bottom of the carb you will have to take the float bowl off to see it.the float has a pivot pin that it swings on and also a needle that is either connected to it or just pushing against it ,where the float pushes it there should be a metal tag you need to bend it so it pushes the needle further away from the float not alot though about 1/2 a millemetre ,if it does not have a metal tag then it must be dirt in the float needle seat which is the bit the float needle pushes into or it may have a ridge or ring worn into the pointed end of the needle causing it not to seal up and stop the fuel from coming in when its pushed up into the needle seat, hope this makes it a bit clearer for you mate.if its dirty clean it and if it has a ridge then you can try to clean it out by using some fine wet and dry paper or buy either a new float or new carb for it :)
