How do I replace the sprocket on my Poulan Pro 260?

The sprocket is developing a groove and will soon need to be replaced. To get to the sprocket, I need to remove the clutch from the shaft. How do I remove the clutch and old sprocket?

Remove the spark plug and replace with a nylon or aluminium piston stop, this allows you to hold the piston in .place while undoing the clutch.
If you do not have a piston stop, feed a piece of rope into the cylinder through the exposed hole at the top, shown when the plug removed.
The clutch cover will have either a hexagonal nut or drive point, undo in a clockwise direction ( it is a left hand thread ) re-fitting is the reverse procedure, be sure to grease the needle bearing between the sprocket and driveshaft, if you do not have a grease point in the centre of the clutch drum.
Greasing should be carried out weekly if the saw undergos heavy usage.
