I had the cluth replaced on my chevrolet matiz which os a 57 plate with only 50,000 miles i have been told that my bulkhead has a crack an that i would have to get it welded is this the form of resolving this problem an i was that this is a ware an tear fualt which is quite common please advise

The Matiz is not alone in having this happen and the solution is normally a welded plate I believe.

At 8 years old your car is probably past its original design life.
