starter motor or something else?

Hi I have a vauxhall bertone 1.8 on a 02 plate that has developed a problem.The issue appears to be intermittent.

On starting the vehicle the starter sounds like it is not disengaging briefly after the engine has started .the battery is good and the starter sounds strong on cranking.

Could this be a fault with the starter?
