please help. ldv brake fail?

Desperate for help!!!
I have a LDV 400 convoy BI-fuel. I bought the truck from Devon and while driving back to somerset one of the nearside brake pads came out resulting in brake fail.
I got it home via motorway using the handbrake and put new pads in bother sides. Now the situation is that I have very little braking.
I've changed the servo and still long travel on the pedal with braking at the final moment.
I've bleed it the conventional way so many times to which HAS giving me a little more braking but still long travel. If I slam the brakes on, the front will lock up.
How can I get my brakes to a point where they start to work when the pedal is press to a slight level?
Please help.

Kind regards

Chris

long time since i worked on these, but i remember that there was 3 bleed nipples on front callipers and when bleeding you had to open 2 together, but i cant remember which, maybe you could have a look in a workshop manual.also [as previous reply] make sure rears are adjusted up.just another point -check front wheel bearings for excess play

It sounds as if you still have air in the system, you don`t say if you have checked out the rear brakes also, have you had the drums off? Good shoes and adjusted up and also bled?
