Morphy Richards 73288 vacuum cleaner?

I want to change the cable as there is a fault close to the motor connections. How do I access the cable connections? I have removed the main cover and a small cover near the cable entrance point. All visible screws have been removed but I still can't remove the plastic cover which has the cable entrance hole on it.

Ha! Then you have the same fault but at the other end - broken conductor inside the cable - invisible...

Good luck the dismantling

I have renewed the wire and plug to within 6 inches of the motor body. The fault seems to be at the point of insertion into the motor. I will look again under any sealing strips that I can find.
The vacuum runs if I tape the cable securely to the body so that there is no flexing.

What makes you think that there's a fault near the motor connections? A mystery diagnosis - how can you tell without observation?

The most common fault with vacuum cleaners is a broken conductor next to the plug - stretched over time until the wires snap apart - fixed by cutting away the plug and a few inches of cable. Quick and easy.

I don't know this particular cleaner but they often put securing screws hidden underneath sealing rubber - lift the sealing strip to find the fixing.
