Countax 350 transmission problem?

My countax is 5 years old. Having reversed to empty the grass I can not now select forward or reverse.

Could this be something underneath that has come loose/undone, or is this likely to be a something more serious?

Lamentably, I wish I could give you more positive advice but this is probably caused by a stripped cog in the gearbox. Your mower has a reputation for this type of transmission issue and will probably require a gearbox rebuild.
