where is the winding handle housed when not in use on a stannah stair lift?

Where is the winding handle housed when not in use on a stannah stair lift? It has fallen out and I found it on the stairs but I don't know where it lives.

Ours drops into one of the uprights, the one without a plastic cap. Not the best place for it, as the chair hits it on the way up or down.
