How did I unscrew nut on steam iron base unit? (MR?

I cannot unscrew the nut on base unit of morphy Richards steam iron elite. It’s very tightly stuck, 44 male using my best force ; no budging! I’ve tried steeping in WD49…nothing….Any suggestions?

I am trying to descale and just can’t remove the nut.
